As this is the first blog entry of 2018, it is not too late for us to wish you all and your Wolverine families a Happy New Year!
Before we provide you with a recap of the past quarter, we want to remind you of the 2018 debut of the UMACT Dinner Club. As usual, we will be meeting at Trattoria Mercatto in the Eaton Centre. However, due to March Break, we will be hosting the event on Tuesday, March 20th, at 7:00 P.M. Here is the link to the event.
We are excited to report that the 4th quarter of 2017 was packed with UMACT activities. We had:
- Several well-attended football watch parties,
- A volunteering event where several members of the Club served dinner to clients of the Gateway men’s shelter, as well as
- A special edition of the UMACT Dinner Club, where members were treated to a fantastic and wide-ranging talk by our featured guest – NYT bestselling author, award-winning journalist/professor, and proud fellow alumnus John U. Bacon.
We have received many positive comments about our efforts to offer more diverse programming to the membership. It was clearly appreciated by the sizeable attendance on that cold December evening for John’s event. You will be pleased to know that the Board is working hard to bring other members and friends of the Wolverine community to Toronto for more exciting events – including one that is already being planned for Fall 2018. So, stay tuned, because you do not want to miss this one!
Your Board of Directors will be gathering “virtually” to hold UMACT’s Annual General Meeting on February 27th, at 7PM via Zoom. Please contact Alex Sirota at President@umichtoronto.org to register here if you would like to attend. As always, we welcome any and all Wolverines who want to get involved with your UMACT.
